“One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a *SECRET* Never to be told”!!
🕵️It is a great book for mystery genre beginners. But for perpetual mystery readers it doesn’t provoke to devour in one go because of inordinately descriptive and foretelling story.
🕵️Harriet aka Hal grew up living in tiny place with her tarot reader mother who dies in an accident just before her 18th birthday. We instantly empathise with her affable character. Life challenges her with monetary issues and one fine day she receives a letter of getting inheritance from The Westaway family after the sudden demise of Mrs.Westaway. She gives it a whirl with hopes and doubts. But this culminates in unexpected scenarios in the Westaway mansion.
🕵️I liked the gothic atmosphere Ruth made adding factors such as creepy housekeeper, itched glass, attic, spooky house, shuffling identities. But to tell the truth I felt I was dipping my toes in literally mystery book but it turned out more of a family drama.
